Mentoring & Education

"What they see is what they'll be."

The desire to pursue higher education should not be extinguished due to lack of either funding or the college preparation that makes students better candidates for college acceptance. The 100 Black Men of Greater Warner Robins, Georgia, has invested considerable effort towards closing the achievement gap in academics between African American youth and their peers in other ethnic groups.

Our College and Career Pathways123 Initiative addresses the quality and quantity of information, resources, and tools available to youth. We have provided free access, to local and regional college campuses, and provided workshops on preparing for and funding a college education.

In addition, we host a workshop-driven College/Career Pathways123 Event targeting African American and Latino students in the Heart of Georgia, drawing busloads of students from several key Central Georgia Counties as far as Dooley, Telfair, Jasper, Taylor, and Chatham Counties. Additionally, we collaborate with the leading Technical Colleges, Universities, and Fortune 1000 Companies in the State of Georgia which helps provide youth opportunities and service.

Health/Wellness & Economic Empowerment

The 100 Black Men of Greater Warner Robins, Georgia’s health and wellness goals are to raise awareness, provide access to health care and health information that will ultimately promote behavior change resulting in a healthier lifestyle and well-being of youth through structured physical fitness training, wholesome food choices, character development, and mentoring. Through civic and corporate partnerships, the 100 Black Men of Greater Warner Robins, Georgia delivers health education programs and free health screenings in our community periodically.

The 100 defines economic empowerment as the ability to be self-determined in creating dreams, pursuing them, and ultimately perpetuating them by establishing the mechanisms to sustain generational wealth. Program initiatives promote generationally economic self-sufficiency through financial literacy, family wealth building, and entrepreneurship.

Our Story

The overall concept of The 100 began in 1963 in New York City when a group of concerned African American men began to meet to explore ways of improving the conditions in their community.

Since inception, the vision has materialized to be shared by more than 110 chapters with over 10,000 members reaching over 125,000 underserved, underrepresented minority youth annually.

Our motto, “What They See Is What They’ll Be” very succinctly expresses how our programmatic services rendered to disadvantaged, disenfranchised, and low-income youth and families positively change their trajectory.

Our local chapter, The 100 Black Men of Greater Warner Robins, Georgia was founded in July 2023 with a group of dedicated community leaders specifically promoting "Mentoring Across A Lifetime" as a catalyst for positive change in "the Heart of Georgia" during these especially challenging times, to benefit from the programmatic approach of The 100.

We promote Mentoring, specifically "Mentoring Across A Lifetime" through our Junior 100, STEM 360 and College & Career Pathways123 Programs.

We encourage all youth to expand their educational horizons by promoting our annual College & Career Fair. Additionally, we also actively engage the community with various Health and Wellness Programs in our region.

Our Mission

The mission of The 100 Black Men of Greater Warner Robins, Georgia is to improve the quality of life for at risk youth within our communities and enhance educational and economic opportunities.

Our Services

The 100 Black Men of Greater Warner Robins, Georgia CareerFest123 Project applies a hybrid Team Mentoring Program, which follows a afterschool-mentoring program model that strives to:

  • Inspire and motivate students to do well in school

  • Expose students to various college and career options

  • Encourage students towards healthy and positive lives

  • Help students to create viable life plans and make good decisions

Mentors stress the importance of (S.T.E.M.) Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. We also collaborate with Regional GEAR-UP students, by talking to students about their jobs. The specific preparation is necessary for their jobs, whether college or other training was required to take that job, and most importantly, what students need to do in school to prepare for a successful life in the world of work. Additionally, mentors offer students advice on making good decisions about basic life choices.

We at The 100 Black Men of Greater Warner Robins, Georgia do all the work and scheduling; schools just give us a date and assign a contact person.

The economy that once provided good jobs for young workers with a high school education or less now favors workers with at least some education and training beyond high school. Whereas two out of three entry-level jobs in the industrial economy demanded a high school diploma or less, now two out of three jobs demand at least some education or training beyond high school. While automation, globalization, and upskilling have prompted this massive economic restructuring, there are still three pathways to good jobs.

The fastest way to a good job for many students is through a career pathway.

Students with a career pathway may take classes to earn college certificates while working on their high school equivalency test or improving their English language skills.

Most workforce college certificates and continuing education programs are available as career pathway options.

There are lots of benefits to getting into a career pathway:

  • Students get support in selecting a degree and enrolling in college.

  • Adult Education provides financial assistance for tuition, books and fees.

  • Career pathway students receive ongoing support (academic and personal) while enrolled at COM.
